Medical Weight
Loss

GLP-1 medications, physician-supervised protocols, and ongoing clinical support — a medical approach to lasting results.

Medical weight loss at Eunoia goes beyond prescribing medication. Our PA-C providers assess your metabolic health, current medications, and goals before recommending a personalized protocol. We use FDA-approved GLP-1 receptor agonists (semaglutide, tirzepatide) supported by nutritional guidance and regular follow-up.

These medications work by mimicking gut hormones that regulate appetite and blood sugar — helping you feel full sooner, eat less, and sustain weight loss over time. Most patients see meaningful results within 4–8 weeks of starting.

How GLP-1 Medications Work

GLP-1 receptor agonists mimic a hormone your gut naturally releases after eating. When activated, they slow gastric emptying, reduce appetite signals in the brain, and improve how the body regulates blood sugar. The result is a sustained reduction in caloric intake without the cycles of intense hunger that make traditional dieting so difficult to maintain.

Semaglutide (the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) are both weekly self-injection protocols. Tirzepatide additionally activates GIP receptors, which appears to amplify weight loss efficacy for many patients. Both medications are dose-titrated over the first several weeks to minimize side effects like nausea while the body adjusts.

At Eunoia, every protocol is supervised by our PA-C team in partnership with our physician medical director — not an online questionnaire. We review your labs, current medications, metabolic markers, and health history before any prescription is written.

Are You a Candidate?

Medical weight loss with GLP-1 medications is typically appropriate for adults who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • BMI of 27 or higher with at least one weight-related health condition (hypertension, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, sleep apnea)
  • BMI of 30 or higher regardless of other health conditions
  • Difficulty maintaining weight loss through diet and exercise alone
  • Interest in a physician-supervised, medication-supported approach

Candidacy also depends on your current medications, medical history, and goals. Certain conditions — including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, MEN2, or active pancreatitis — are contraindications. This is why a proper intake evaluation with a licensed provider is required before starting any protocol. We do not prescribe without a clinical consultation.

Both in-office consultations (Salinas and Morgan Hill) and telehealth consultations (available to patients throughout California) are offered to accommodate your schedule.

What to Expect

Most patients notice appetite changes within the first 1–2 weeks of starting their protocol. Meaningful weight loss typically begins in weeks 4–8 once the therapeutic dose is reached. Clinical studies show average weight reduction of 10–20% of body weight over 6–12 months for patients who maintain consistent treatment and follow nutritional guidance.

Your first appointment covers full medical intake and lab review. At follow-up visits, your provider reviews progress, adjusts dosing if needed, and addresses any side effects. Injections are self-administered at home on a weekly schedule — we train you on technique at your first visit or walk you through it via telehealth.

Our Salinas and Morgan Hill medical spa locations offer in-person support throughout your program, and California-wide patients can access ongoing management virtually. The goal is not just short-term weight loss but building sustainable habits supported by clinical oversight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to start medical weight loss at Eunoia?

No referral is needed. You can book directly through our online scheduling system or call 831-225-2774. New patients start with a comprehensive consultation — in-office at Salinas or Morgan Hill, or via telehealth for California residents — before any medication is prescribed.

Does insurance cover GLP-1 medications?

Coverage varies significantly by insurance plan. Some commercial plans cover semaglutide or tirzepatide when prescribed for weight management; others do not. We recommend contacting your insurer directly. Our team can provide documentation to support a prior authorization request if needed. We also offer self-pay pricing for patients without coverage.

How is this different from an online weight loss prescription service?

Online-only services typically rely on a questionnaire and automated review. At Eunoia, you meet with a PA-C provider who reviews your actual labs, asks detailed medical history questions, and designs a protocol specific to your physiology and goals. Our physician medical director oversees all prescribing decisions. Ongoing follow-up is built into the program — not an add-on upsell.

Can I combine medical weight loss with other Eunoia treatments?

Yes. Many patients pair their weight loss program with body contouring, skin tightening, or IV vitamin therapy to support energy levels and overall wellness during rapid weight changes. Your provider can help coordinate a plan across our treatment menu at both the Salinas and Morgan Hill locations.
